The 5G system will not only have to surpass previous generations with respect to rate and capacity, but also address new usage scenarios with very diverse requirements, including various kinds of machine-type communication. Following this, the METIS project has developed a 5G system concept consisting of three generic 5G services: extreme mobile broadband, massive machine-type communication, and ultra-reliable MTC, supported by four main enablers: a lean system control plane, a dynamic radio access network, localized contents and traffic flows, and a spectrum toolbox. This article describes the most important system-level 5G features, enabled by the concept, necessary to meet the very diverse 5G requirements. System-level evaluation results of the METIS 5G system concept are presented, and we conclude that the 5G requirements can be met with the proposed system concept. This work was supported in part by the European Commission under FP7, grant number ICT-317669 METIS.Tullberg, H.; Popovski, P.; Li, Z.; Uusitalo, MA.; Hoglund, A.; Bulakci, O.; Fallgren, M.... Fifth-Generation Technologies for the Connected Car:Capable Systems for Vehicle-to-Anything Communications

Two strong technology trends, one in the mobile communications industry and the other in the automotive industry, are becoming interwoven and will jointly provide new capabilities and functionality for upcoming intelligent transport systems (ITSs) and future driving. The automotive industry is on a path where vehicles are continuously becoming more aware of their environment due to the addition of various types of integrated sensors. At the same time, the amount of automation in vehicles increases, which, with some intermediate steps, will eventually culminate in fully automated driving without human intervention. Along this path, the amount of interactions rises, both in-between vehicles and between vehicles and other road users, and with an increasingly intelligent road infrastructure. As a consequence, the significance and reliance on capable communication systems for vehicleto-anything (V2X) communication is becoming a key asset that will enhance the performance of automated driving and increase further road traffic safety with combination of sensor-based technologies [1]

On the needs and requirements arising from connected and automated driving

Future 5G systems have set a goal to support mission-critical Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communications and they contribute to an important step towards connected and automated driving. To achieve this goal, the communication technologies should be designed based on a solid understanding of the new V2X applications and the related requirements and challenges. In this regard, we provide a description of the main V2X application categories and their representative use cases selected based on an analysis of the future needs of cooperative and automated driving. We also present a methodology on how to derive the network related requirements from the automotive specific requirements. The methodology can be used to analyze the key requirements of both existing and future V2X use cases

This deliverable contains a proposal for a performance evaluation framework that aims at ensuring that multiple projects within 5G-PPP wireless strand can quantitatively assess and compare the performance of different 5G RAN design concepts. The report collects the vision of several 5G-PPP projects and is conceived as a living document to be further elaborated along with the 5G-PPP framework workshops planned during 2016.Weber, A.; Agyapong, P.; Rosowski, T.; Zimmerman, G.; Fallgren, M.; Sharma, S.; Kousaridas, A.... Optimization of Joint Cell, Channel and Power Allocation in Wireless Communication Networks

In this thesis we formulate joint cell, channel and power allocation problems within wireless communication networks. The objectives are to maximize the user with mini- mum data throughput (Shannon capacity) or to maximize the total system throughput, referred to as the max-min and max-sum problem respectively. The complexity is stud- ied together with proposed optimization- and heuristic-based approaches. In the first paper an overall joint cell, channel and power allocation max-min prob- lem is formulated. We show that the decision problem is NP-hard and that the op- timization problem is not approximable unless P is equal to NP, for instances with a sufficiently large number of channels. Further, it follows that for a feasible binary cell and channel allocation, the remaining continuous power allocation optimization problem is still not approximable unless P is equal to NP. In addition, it is shown that first-order optimality conditions give global optimum of the single channel power al- location optimization problem, although the problem is in general not convex. In the following two papers heuristics for solving the overall problem are proposed. In the second paper we consider the single channel problem with convex combinations of the max-min and the max-sum objective functions. This variable utility provides the ability of tuning the amount of fairness and total throughput. The third paper investi- gates the multiple channel setting. On a system with three cells, eight mobile users and three channels, we perform an exhaustive search over feasible cell and channel alloca- tions. The exhaustive search is then compared to the less computationally expensive heuristic approaches, presenting potential earnings to strive for. A conclusion is that several of the proposed heuristics perform very well. The final paper incorporates fixed relay stations into the overall joint cell, channel and power allocation max-min problem. The complexity is inherited from the formula- tion without relay stations. Further, we propose a heuristic channel allocation approach that shows good performance, compared to an optimization based approach, in numer- ical simulations on the relay setting.Financial support by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF) QC 2011091

This report focuses on work schedules in the retail sector, where work schedules are dynamic and change according to the needs and work schedule is a requirement for an effective structure of the work. This structure is important for maintaining a good order and all this is a requirement for a profitable business for both long and short term future. Work schedule also contributes to safety at the workplace. The purpose of this study was to investigate the transfer of knowledge by work schedules. The HRM employee we interviewed worked in Reitan Servicehandel Sverige AB which includes 7-Eleven, PressbyrÄn and Shell. This study focused on the 7-Eleven, PressbyrÄn and Shell stores. The routines implemented in the work schedule contribute to increased safety for all the staff. Work schedule is also intended to pass the knowledge on both in long and short term future. Employees need to learn their operating procedures and in long-term the business needs to go into profit. The Director has the responsibility for the development of the work schedule, but in order to improve the work schedule, employees needs to be involved. Involvement of the staff is a motivational factor that has tended to increase the staff's enthusiasm at work. The staff feels that they are part of the business and would therefore like to contribute more to their company. The results show that the work schedule is a necessity in the retail sector. Work schedule brings order and clarity to staff and store. It creates clear guidelines for staff so that they know what to do. Work schedules are dynamic and changes with time. The development of the work schedule is required to take into account both employees and market needs. Work schedule is designed to pass on knowledge and thereby increase profitability.Denna rapport fokuserar pÄ arbetsscheman inom detaljhandeln, dÀr arbetsscheman Àr dynamiska och förÀndras utifrÄn behov.
